RE: Hanging with who brung us to the dance...

Polarises are nothing if not rugged. While every manufacturer has experienced its setbacks, I think Polaris kinda got a bum deal in the bad rep department. They've made huge strides in recent years. The Polaris's that I have owened have not been relabe but the last one was a 2001.The service manager for the loacl Honda ,Polaris dealer said if it wasn't for Polaris they wouldn't have much work.

RE: Anybody Have Experience with ATV Track Systems?

My Can Am dealer has sold a few track kits and said they work well for work.He also said they are not any fun to ride because of the snow dust.

RE: Anybody Have Experience with ATV Track Systems?

I might be getting a performance bonus at work, for finishing two construction jobs, ahead of schedule. I'm considering a track system for my 05 Grizzly. Anybody have experience with these systems? I'd like to be able to ice fish the big lakes, even if there is deep snow. Another plus is that you can ride the snowmobile trail systems legally with a track system. Are they worth the investment? Should I just buy a used snowmobile? First , i'd say check in with the laws and double check the legality of the traxx system. I know here in wisconsin , they are NOT legal for trails , and are still concidered an ATV. Me personally , for the price you are going to be paying for them , you're better off just buying a decent sled. They are like 3500-5000 , so you could get a REALLY nice sled for that price and still have money left over. thats just me though In Montana they are not legal on groomed snowmobile trails. They seem to work well on the bigger machines. They also use a lot of gas and are a lot slower than a snowmachine.

If you live in the high county and ride ATVs you have been changing jets for Years. When the first Rincons came out and they were sold in the high county we tried to get then to work buy changing the jets and trying to get it to make power at a low engine. If you think a Rincon with 26" tires can even begin to stay with a gade and if it had Big horn you wouldn't be able to follow in it's tracks.

RE: Hanging with who brung us to the dance...

Considering that Honda out sells all other ATVs I would say that winning a small number of 400c contests shows how much they need to improve to be any good in the mud let alone the snow.If you go on their web site they dream of low range and a locker hell they would be happy with Visco Loc.

If I'm not wright.... Are you Orville? Wilbur? Richard? Rev. Jeremiah? Its spelled "right"! Good thing you grew up when it wasn't so important to be literate. This guy tried to make it through a hole that lloks to be near impossible, but tell me this Foreman can't turn its tires. There. I showed you the video to prove you wrong As for the claim Hondas can't turn big tires, this is a Foreman 500. Not sure what size, but they're big n meanI watch the Video and I did see any thing their that would change my mined. So I went over on Hi Lifter and Found thisI couldn't find very many Honda's so I must right

RE: Hanging with who brung us to the dance...

Speaking of 3 1/2 wheel drive, watch the visco lock disengage every time this rider lets off the throttle, particularly at the end of the pit when he needs the front end locked the most. Note the low wheel speeds Bruce. These guys know how to traverse mud properly. Lots of wheel speed is detrimental to mud crossings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA3asO26xZc How could you miss this one it's a little 500 Can Am and a 700 Yamaha. Do you think a 31/2 wheel Honda would do any better.500 Vtwin

RE: Ridding in early snow

You hit the nail on the head. He has ridden with 500cc Rubicons and Foremans. Years ago a few of my friends though the big Honda would be a great ATV.They were until they started to use them. The problems started when fall came .Maybe if they had Hi Lifter's gear reduction they would be able to turn those 25" rags

RE: Hanging with who brung us to the dance...

HOWEVER, you must acknowledge that before the 950s, 850s, 800s, 750s, 700s, 680s, and 650s even existed, there were people going to those altitudes on 450s, 500s, and 600s, and quite successfully. Its obvious that the more power surplus you have, the better, but even with a midsize ATV, it can indeed be done. Way back in time I had two stroke Polaris's they had a power and traction advantage over the Honda 300's and the old 350 Foreman. In fact their advantage was as much as the 800 0utlander has over the Rincon.A If Honda has all this power why does Hi Lifter make a gear reduction for them.

RE: Hanging with who brung us to the dance...

Well, well, newby do you have any Video's of you Honda in the mud or snow so we can see those 26" mud tires throwing mud or snow.If not I will see if I can get some . Now you're just typing for the sake of typing. Any decent 450cc ute worth its salt will throw mud and snow with 26's. That said, questioning whether his Rincon 680 will do it is ridiculous. Newby, I wouldn't even make the effort to post those pics, unless you really want to, as you are only entertaining the one child on this forum. The rest of us realize the pointlessness of his query. For some reason, he needs to constantly remind us, or maybe just himself, that the 800 Rotax has a significant power edge over most other utes, with the exception of the Thundercat, and only a slight edge over the BF750. If You didn't ride in the high county then you could probably get buy with with a Honda if you stayed out of the deep snow and rocks.you would also have to stay away from the high sand dunes. That is why you will see a lot of people in the high county leaving Honda for other ATVs.Even a 700 Yamaha needs a clutch kit to work well up hear.At 8000ft you lose about 24% percent of your power. That is why we like 800s,850s,and 950s in the high county.

Looks fairly deep and uneven. Also looks like heavy dense snow. Powder is so much easier. I noticed his were the only tracks through the middle. This was taken in june at about 8,500 feet its great fun.You should come out and try it.
